Langport Friday weekly Market brings together a collection of sellers in the heart of Langport every Friday 9am - 2pm.
Whether is snacks, rugs, keyrings, alcohol, flowers, or handmade items you sell you would be very welcome at Langport Friday market.
The Langport town council have an alcohol licence for the area so drinks traders may apply, and will not have to apply for their own TEN licence.

Langport Saturday Market Stall Hire - Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to markets held within the area of Cocklemoor Island Carpark. They apply equally to stalls provided by the Town Council and stalls provided by the trader.

Market Days
The markets are to be held in the town on a Friday 9am – 2pm and the 4th Saturday of each month from 10am - 3pm. These terms and conditions apply to all the markets including Langport Local, Langport Vintage and Langport General Markets. These terms and conditions apply also to any additional markets held in Langport.

Access to Facilities
Traders can commence setting up from an hour before market start time. If a Market Coordinator is assigned to a market, they will be best placed to provide support and guidance to traders, particularly new ones. Rachel Smith of 'South West Makers' shop on Bow Street for the Friday and Saturday regular markets.

Operation Times
Traders must ensure that their stalls remain adequately stocked and goods attractively displayed between the main operational hours of the market and must trade for those hours at a minimum.

Type of Goods Sold

The sale of firearms, air weapons, explosives, sheath knives/cut-throat razors, hunting knives, pornography and counterfeit goods is prohibited.

No live animals must be on display, either for sale or as a pet.

Traders may only sell what is declared on their application. Any changes to your stock after applications have been approved must first be cleared with the Market Coordinator.

Standard Regulations
All traders should be fully aware of any current relevant statutory legislation e.g. Health and Safety that may affect an open market, and should comply with such regulations whilst trading at a Langport Town Council market.

Age of Traders
All Traders left in sole charge of the Stall must be 18 years of age or over.

Fees
The fees for the Friday markets are £20 (plus £5 gazebo hire).
The stall fees for the Saturday Markets £22 per stall (plus £8 for the hire of a council gazebo if required). Fees are subject to review each year at the October meeting of the Finance and Personnel Committee. The market organiser pays £10/ half of each pitch fee to the Langport Town Council.

Stall Boundaries
Pitches are generally 3 x 3 metres.
Stalls may be provided and set-up by Langport Town Council. Traders must not encroach on the space reserved for other traders by placing goods beyond the boundaries of the stall. Neither shall the placement of such goods provide a hazard to members of the public.

Spreading Over
If traders wish to spread goods over to fill a neighbouring stall that is vacant through the absence of another trader, then they may only do so with the Market Coordinator’s permission. However, they may be charged accordingly.
10. Conduct
The trader shall at all times conduct his/her business in a clean, honest, civil and business-like manner, without causing obstruction of the passageway adjoining the facilities, or interfering with the business of other traders.

Electricity
Traders wishing an electricity supply to their stall must only use PAT tested electrical items associated with market stalls for the operation of: lighting, tills, scales, refrigerators and hotplates. Electricity can be provided free of charge with advance notice to the Market Coordinator. No portable gas appliances are permitted.

Payment
Payment for a General Market will have been made prior to the market by registering and paying for stall space with the market organiser. Any trader who fails to pay may be ejected from the market without prior warning.

Indemnity
The Stall holder agrees to indemnify the Council (and Rachel Smith) from and against all claims, demands, damage costs charges and expenses howsoever arising from the use by the Stall holder of the facilities whether due to the act of default or negligence of the trader or their staff or agents and that a public liability insurance policy covering a minimum One Million Pounds (£1,000,000) for any one accident is obtained by the trader prior to use of the facilities to include the liabilities assumed under this Licence and is maintained during its continuance. Insurance Certificates shall be provided with the application form and be available for inspection by the Town Clerk or Market Coordinator at every market – if requested.

Regular Traders
The Council cannot guarantee a stall location will be reserved for a regular trader.

Supporting Langport Town Council’s Green Charter
Langport Town Council seeks to care for the environment in all that it does – directly and indirectly – and to influence others to do the same. The Council operates a ‘single-use plastic free’ policy and we encourage all market traders to use alternatives to single use plastics in the provision of goods and services on market days. 16. Non-Attendance/ pitch refund
Traders must email the Market Coordinator to notify them of their non-attendance giving at least 72 hours’ (3 days) notice prior to the commencement of the market – otherwise, they will be charged £10 for the space or Full pitch price for less than 24 hours notice.
Where the market needs to be cancelled by the organisers, due to adverse weather or similar, an admin fee may be retained up to the value of £10. Where possible a pitch at another market will be offered or a full refund will be provided.

Layout and Market Termination

The Council reserves the right to close or alter the layout of the Market or close and stop sales at the facilities without notice and without liability to the trader, or any other person for any loss sustained directly or indirectly, if it is considered to be in the best interest of the Market, or the general public, and the right to close may be exercised by or on behalf of the Town Clerk.

Except by written permission of the Town Clerk, no trader, nor any person acting on his authority or consent, shall either interfere with or change the design or layout of the market or the facilities.
18. Damage to Gazebos / Market Area
Traders may not alter, damage or deface the property of the Council. Any repairs required as a result of damage will be recharged to the trader.

Promotion of political or religious views
Traders will not be allowed to use the facilities for the purpose of political campaigning/demonstrating or to promote religious views.

Vehicles
Vehicles should normally be removed from the market area and parked away from the market by 9:30am on a Saturday. There is free parking at the GP surgery (round the corner) for stall holders so please move vehicles there where possible.

Accidents
The Trader must report all accidents, disputes, thefts and disorderly conduct to the Market Coordinator as soon as practicable.

Property of the Trader
The Trader agrees that their property, employees and agents, including goods vehicles, equipment and receptacles, whilst on property belonging to the Council in connection with the business of the Trader carried on at the facilities shall remain vested in the owner and the Council accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage thereto from any cause whatsoever.
