Welcome to the Indie Crafters Carnival — a vibrant, circus-inspired celebration of creativity, colour, and community!

Step into a transformed Market Hall filled with inspired décor and the joyful spirit of carnival. This special event will showcase the very best independent crafters and creatives, all wrapped up in a playful circus theme that promises fun for all the family.

We’re inviting stallholders, artists, illustrators, designers, makers, performers and workshop hosts to join the carnival!

Whether you create bold statement pieces, colourful homeware, playful illustrations, handmade fashion, quirky gifts or interactive art — this is your chance to showcase your work as part of a landmark celebration in one of Derby’s most iconic spaces.

This is more than a market — it’s an experience.

The Indie Crafters Carnival is designed to bring generations together. Families can explore creative stalls, enjoy live entertainment, take part in hands-on workshops, and soak up the celebratory carnival atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Terms and Conditions

Timings:

Tuesday - Wednesday : Can arrive from 8:00 a.m. Finish at 3 pm, out by 4 pm.

Thursday - Saturday : Can arrive from 8:00a.m . Finish 5 pm / Optional training window after 5:00 p.m

Sunday - Can arrive from 10:00 a.m. Finish at 6 pm, out by 7 pm.

Overview:

  • You will have access to the free public Wi-Fi network in the Market Hall.
  • Permitted access to the loading dock (subject to allocated time windows provided, which will be organised in advance of day).
  • Photography, videography & audio recording may take place.
  • Trader will supply public liability insurance and/ or employer liability.
  • All products, displays, signage and promotional materials must be suitable for general audience.
  • Any explicit or sensitive content must be declared in advance and not openly displayed.
  • We have the right to restrict or remove any content deemed inappropriate; this includes political, religious, and sexual content.
  • Traders must comply with all instructions issued by Derby Market Hall.
  • Food hygiene certification if applicable, with a minimum grade rating of 3. This applies for any necessary alcohol licences.
  • No tenant may sell:
  • Drugs / Pharmaceuticals
  • Offensive weapons, for example flick knives
  • Self-defence sprays, for example pepper spray and CS gas
  • Live animals
  • Vapes and tobacco products
  • Indecent and obscene materials, such as books, magazines, films and DVDs.
  • You may not sell any food product unless:
  • You are a registered food business & permission by us has been granted
  • Adhere to the environmental health rules as per regulations.
  • No trader may wholly change their product offer without written permission from the Market Hall Team and a revised permitted uses letter.
  • Lockable storage on your unit will be supplied but left unattended at your own risk.
  • Bringing physical copies of certificates & insurances to your stall during trading hours.
  • On-Site Parking is not provided.
  • Smoking, vaping or consumption of your own alcohol is not permitted on site.
  • Trader is expected to comply with the prohibited items list provided before they arrive on site.
  • Permitted to use wastage facilities on site, but unit must be returned as found, clean & tidy.
  • No permanent fixtures & fittings may be applied to your unit without prior written consent by the Market Hall management.
  • Two chairs per unit will be provided, personal chairs are not permitted.
  • Should you require additional seating or resources, please email [email protected] ahead of your visit, subject to a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Stalls must always remain manned, failure to comply with this could result in closure of your unit.
  • Stallholders must be setup by the time of Market opening & remain trading until the agreed end of your trading day.
  • No personal music or sound systems are allowed at any time.
  • Haulage trollies for stock cannot be guaranteed.
  • It is not the duty of Market Hall team or other traders to assist you with the load in, setup or take down of your equipment.
  • Hand washing facilities are not provided.
  • Stall items must all be displayed upon your barrow, no flooring stands, items or signage may be placed around your stall.
  • Traders & their team will be expected to comply with all fire, safety & security information given to them by Market Hall staff.
  • Stallholders with multi-day rentals, must ensure their stock is locked away in their barrow each night, and is left at traders’ risk.
  • Timings set by the Market Hall for getting in with stock & packing down must be prompt. The Market Hall will be closed to all traders 1 hour after trading concludes.
  • Stalls are allocated by market hall staff ahead of time, you may not choose your own stall. If you have a preference on stall let us know ahead of time and we can do our best.
  • If locking your pop up barrow overnight, you must return keys the next day.
  • When making payment please use Market Hall as the reference with your business name.
