Annual two day market hosted to coincide with the Hay Festival of Literature's Winter Weekend.
To celebrate the festival, and to offer a unique shopping experience to festival visitors, on both Saturday and Sunday the square and halls will be transformed into a vibrant weekend market of over 50 independent creatives, makers, producers, street food and vintage sellers, the perfect place to begin your Christmas shopping.
SELECTION OF TRADERS:
Our focus when selecting applicants will be on independent traders selling unique festive gifts, artisan foodie treats, handmade arts and crafts, complemented with delicious street food and drink. Priority will be given to those traders that can trade on both the Saturday and the Sunday. Please note that traders will need to pack down on the Saturday and re-set up on the Sunday. We will have security overnight, but it is an open public square, so we would advise only leaving things like display racks etc.
MARKET LOCATIONS:
The market will be held outside on Memorial Square and in the open-sided Buttermarket Hall. There are a number of pitches available, most with the market providing a stall/table/gazebo:
- Outside market stall - 8x4ft with a tarp roof
- Hall market table - 6x3ft with railings behind for hanging
- Market gazebo - 3x3m (you are likely to need to bring your own table(s)
- And a handful of pitches where traders bring either their own gazebo or van
