Directions

If you are using a satnav/google maps please use this address to gain access to the event: Market Pl, Newbury RG14 5AA.

This postcode should bring you to the market site. Turn onto Mansion House Street which will lead you onto Market Place which is where the event is taking place. You may pull up onto Market Place to unload. Please make sure you are not blocking the roads to allow traffic to flow through the marketplace as there will not be a road closure in place. The roads surrounding the square are one way only.

When you arrive you should be able to park next to your pitch to unload. Please allow enough space for other traders to get past you while you unload.

Unloading

Traders who have booked electricity are able to set up from 8:15am. Those without can set up from 8:45am.

It is unloading only on the Market Plae. Once you have unloaded please get back into your vehicle to park it elsewhere. You may erect your gazebo but must not start setting up your stall until you have moved your vehicle. All vehicles must be off site by 9:45am.

Parking

  • We would advise trying to park in the Corn Exchange Car Park, Bear Lane, Newbury RG14 5AN which is the closest but will only accept PaybyPhone payments.  Alternatively use the  Kennet Centre as this is one of the closest and cheaper car parks - Bartholomew St, Newbury RG14 5BN
  • For larger vehicles and vans please park in Wharf Pay & Display Car Park - Wharf Rd, Newbury RG14 5AP
  • Newbury is a fairly small town so all the car parks will be within a 10 min walk away. Map of all car parks can be found here - https://gis2.westberks.gov.uk/webapps/OnlineMap/?x=447147&y=167246&scale=10&vln=CAR%20PARKS
  • Unfortunately charges do apply on a Sunday in Newbury.

Your pitch

You are required to bring your own gazebo, tables and chairs for this event. Your pitch accommodates a 3m x 3m gazebo (unless otherwise arranged). Please also bring appropriate weights for your gazebo even if the forecast is for low winds.

Floorplan

  • Pitches will be allocated on arrival.
  • Please find and speak to someone in a high vis before setting up your pitch to confirm you are in the correct place.
  • Only traders with electricity needs or specific pitch sizes have been allocated a spot on the plan. All other traders will be assigned a pitch on arrival.
  • There is a chance your position will change on the day depending on what time you arrive. If you arrive late we may fill your place with another trader to not leave a gap and put you on an end so you can set up more safely.
  • If you plan to switch pitches with another trader please consult both myself and the other trader first.
  • Any special requests for pitch placement will have been taken into consideration.
  • If you are unhappy with your pitch please make the event manager aware as soon as possible.

Electricity

Electricity will only be provided to those who booked in advance of the event and will be charged at an additional fee.

Expected footfall
Attendance at Newbury Market has always been consistent although it's hard for us to get exact numbers as there is no paid entry. Being in the centre of the town means we get good general footfall from locals.

We will be running Facebook, Instagram and Google adverts and listing the event on free and paid online listings. Newbury BID have also been running ads on their social media and with local press and radio.  There is also an Antiques Market in the town so that will help bring in people.
